Found on many 19th century coastal houses, the Widow’s Walk is a gated rooftop platform with a romantic myth attached to create some mystique. It was here that  the dedicated mariner’s wife would perform her daily watch for vessels at sea longing for the return of her beloved husband who was away for months or even years at a time.  Would this be the day that he returns? Sadly, many of these wives became widows when the powerful arms of a turbulent sea seized the soul of many a sailor, forbidding their return home.
